Orphans Foundation Fund is fundraising for its Computer Programme.

Orphans Foundation Fund has been providing free computer training courses for vulnerable children in the community. We have been working through the community development office of city of Arusha to identify those children who benefit from these courses. We are in need of more computers for this programme. We have a pool of requests from the community for such a programme. The demand is still high and hence we are looking for more donation.

Please donate computers to our computer programme for Orphans and Vulnerable Children/youth.

Update on OFF Projects

Dr James Lace and Gosberth ( Director of Orphans Foundation Fund ) had recently went out in the field for monitoring and evaluation for two water projects done with OFF in the past years. These are some of the OFF success stories for past 3 years.

1. Rafiki Water Project

This project can produce 18,000 liters per hour. but the orphanage is able to supply over 1,000 liters around the Merelani town daily by using a motorcycle. This does not include all the sales to the trucks and individuals who comes with small containers. The estimated income per day is 90,000/= and per month is 2,700,000/= This is a very successfully and sustainable project among many projects implemented by OFF in five past years.

2. Water and Sanitation Project for Meralani community

The project can produce 17,000 liters per hour and saves more than 7,000 people around Merelani town, the infrastructure and reserve tank with capacity of 10,000 liters found in good condition. The supervisor in charge for water and sanitation project said they can sell up to 7,000 liters or more daily to the water vendors who are supplying the water in the Tanzanite mining. According to the supervisor in charge there is no water problem in the area any more, water is now plentiful. What is needed now is a well planed water system with meters for every house.

Child Health Project in Olkokola Village

Dr James Lace led the team of doctors from Mt. Meru Hospital on 22nd March 2013 to Olkokola village. They conducted one day treatment, this team helped over 100 sick people, the diseases appeared to be common were skin disease, eyes, pneumonia, bacterial conjunctivitis and helminthiasi.

The village guides took the volunteers doctors around the village after working hours to refresh their mind by amusing the scenery beauty of the village which is laying on the slopes of Mt Meru.

Ngorongoro Crater Trip

Orphans Foundation Fund took an educational and fun trip to Ngorongoro Crater with the University Students under the OFF Education program. The three day educational trip included Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire National Park. We wanted to do this to motivate them and also let them really enjoy their vacation.

Students Receive the Tools to Succeed

We at Orphans Foundation Fund had the graduation of the students in the street children project funded by CORDAID. Each of the young graduates received the tools they needed to now become self reliant. Through diligent hard work they will forge a path for their future. Powering the Pediatric Unit of Mt. Meru Hospital

The pediatric unit of Mt. Meru hospital has temporarily moved to the Levolosi clinic. Unfortunately it is off the hospital grid for electricity. Without electricity and lights giving proper care to the patients was difficult. Orphans Foundation Fund was able to purchase the necessary wiring and connectors to connect to a nearby generator. Now all the children in the pediatric unit can be cared for, any electrical medical equipment can be operated when needed, and the nurses can see their patients with proper lighting.

Students in Cooking Course

Last week 21 young adults graduated from the Orphans Foundation Fund cooking course funded by Cord Aid. At the ceremony many of last terms students were awarded a certificate during the ceremony at Help to self Help vocational center. An additional 29 young adults studied tailoring and mechanics. They will graduate in January of next year.

Wheelchair donation

A good samaritan donated a wheelchair to Orphans Foundation Fund and it was then given to this needy man. The donor now wants to give to more people, so we are looking for more with disabilities to help.

Computer Empowerment Donation

Six nurses at Mt Meru Hospital and three students have each been given a notebook computer by Orphans Foundation Fund. This OFF sustainable computer program targets working partners, vulnerable children and other less privileged group in the community with computer equipment and training.
